BOSTON - How to Avoid the Pocket Pain Each season we are inundated with
catalogs from luxury retailers displaying the latest designs and trends
in bedding and home décor. Many consumers like me have felt compelled
to purchase the latest décor. Thankfully there is an answer to this
vicious cycle: accessorize! Welcoming trendy décor into your home is very rewarding, both socially and aesthetically. But overdoing the trend can lead you saying "Oh that's the late 1990's room." The key to accessorizing trends is to have a solid base to work with. For example, have a neutral bedspread like a poplin or woven cotton material. When trends spark your interest, add decorative pillows and throws to create a similar look. Or alternatively, invest in high quality pillow inserts and in turn purchase pillow covers when you are attracted to the latest and greatest bedding fashions. Many high quality retailers offer reversible pillow covers that are often handy when you have caught the trend bug. Of course the other side of the coins remains, what do I do with this stuff once the trend has died or even more common, I can't stand looking at it anymore! If you decide to go with toss pillows, you always can recover them very easily or zip a cover over them to hide the old pattern. Vacation homes are also another great place to put the décor to work. If you are sick of seeing them on a daily basis, placing them in lesser visited places can be both cost effective and efficient. But most importantly don't waste money on expensive trendy décor. The money can be better spent on a quality down comforter, pillow insert or rug. Select the best Trendy Bedding below. |
